Why Hollow and Solid Chains Behave Differently
It comes down to how much metal is in each link. A solid link has no gaps, so it can take bumps and the pull of a pendant. A hollow link is a thin shell, so it uses less silver, which makes it lighter and cheaper, but the thin walls can dent or crush if pressed, pulled or knocked.

Are Hollow Chains Bad?
Not bad, but limited. A hollow chain can be a fair choice if you want a wide, bold look at a lower price and only wear it now and then. It is a weaker choice for daily wear, the gym, or a pendant with some weight, because a dent or kink in a hollow link usually cannot be fixed.
What Is a Semi-Solid Chain?
A semi-solid chain sits in between. Its links usually have a small hollow centre with thicker walls than a fully hollow chain. It is lighter and cheaper than solid, and stronger than hollow. Check the listing carefully, as the term is used in different ways.

- Check the price. A thick chain at a surprisingly low price is often hollow.
