Why Silver Chains Look Dull

On sterling silver, sulfur in the air slowly reacts with the metal to form tarnish, the grey or dark film you see. Moisture and skin oils speed it up. Steel doesn't tarnish this way, but dirt and oils build up on it too. A cleaner works on that film and buildup, so the chain looks brighter again.

How to Use It

Spray method

1. Spray the cleaner directly on the chain.
2. Leave it for 1–3 minutes.
3. Wipe it clean with a dry cloth.

Soak method

1. Put the chain in a small container and cover it with the cleaner.
2. Soak it for 5 minutes.
3. Wipe it clean with a dry cloth.

Read the warnings on the bottle before you use it. Follow the times on the bottle. If a chain still looks dull, repeat the steps rather than leaving it on longer.

What to Expect

Is it safe for sterling silver and stainless steel?

Yes. It is made for 925 sterling silver and stainless steel. Don't use it on gemstones, pearls, plated pieces or oxidized silver.

Is this the same as silver polish or silver dip?

No. This is a spray cleaner. Silver polish is rubbed on by hand, and a silver dip is a quick dunk in a special liquid. Always follow the label on whichever product you use.

Will it remove heavy tarnish?

It is made for light tarnish and everyday dullness. Heavy tarnish may need a second round.
